Solar Energy in Ontario was almost as much electricity as all U.S. nuclear reactors, Studies Find
The studies, led by engineering professor at Queen Joshua Pearce, is the potential of solar energy first in the region to explore. Professor Pearce was how many would be produced gigawatts by surprise.
“We came in large numbers, and were conservative. There are about 95 gigawatts of potential only in southeastern Ontario – which indicates a huge potential,” says Professor Pearce, who specializes in solar photovoltaic and Sustainability Applied Materials, now I can power my Inspiron 6400 battery out of the door.
A study accepted for publication in the journal Computer discovered, environment and urban systems, that in choosing the roofs in southern Ontario were covered with solar cells, which could be five percent over five gigawatts of all products Ontario energy. The study took into account the roof orientation and shading.
“To put this in perspective, produce all the coal power plants across Ontario a little over six gigawatts. The sun does not always appear, so if solar power will couple with other renewable energy sources such as wind, hydro and biomass, southeastern Ontario could easily meet their energy needs, while solar power is not free, stable electron volts my Dell Inspiron 6400 battery, “says Professor Pearce.
A second study, published in the May issue of the journal Solar Energy looked, country in southeastern Ontario, which could be used for solar farms. “Nuclear energy for all in the United States is approximately 100 gigawatts. We can only produce 90 to barren land with solar energy in this small space, so we’re not talking about little else,” says Professor Pearce.
