Japan will launch Solar-Powered spacecraft in the future

Could this be the beginning of more green space programs? Next month, Japan is launching a spacecraft propelled by solar sails in deep space. The Ikaros, as the ship has been christened, will take to the skies on May 18, 2010. Ikaros means “Kite-accelerated interplanetary spacecraft by radiation from the sun.” The name is also a reference to the Greek myth of Icarus, a young man, with his father Daedalus, attempted to escape Crete by exile in the configuration of the wings of feathers and wax.

According to myth, Icarus flew too near the sun and heat melted the wax of his wings, making it to plummet to death. We certainly hope the spacecraft Ikarus meet a happier fate when the rocket takes off from the Tanegashima Space Center. If successful, the Ikarus will be the first spacecraft to use solar sails in space as a primary method of propulsion. This has cost JAXA spacecraft ¥ 1,500,000,000 (about $ 16 million) to build. The solar in family – Home water heaters

On April 22, 1970, became the first demonstration for land, in order to create awareness activities to help conservation of natural resources.

One such initiative is the reference to the use of solar energy to heat water that is usually used for showers.

However, systems that have been industrially produced and marketed, at least in Guatemala, have such high costs for residential use, which is cheaper, still use traditional systems based on electricity or gas, to move a water heating system with solar energy.

Taking the case of Earth Day, I share these videos, which have been produced by Green Power Science initiative, which explain how to build a home water heater, solar energy.

I have researched on the physical principles being applied and I’ve also found that in Guatemala, I can find all the necessary materials. Before the season begins in winter, when the region I live, I hope to have built a system similar to the video.

If anyone is interested too, can find more information on Green Power Science and unloading the work plan. Apart from the electricity savings and economic inputs, it seems an interesting way to live in a greener world.

Three Green Energy technologies will change the world

Technology Review, a publication of MIT, has just its annual list of the 10 new technologies that will change the world published one day. The list includes everything from phone screens in 3-D television social electronic medical implants. Three green innovations, including two solar energy applications, has it in the 2010 TR10 list. Each technology is that a researcher or a group to push certain area is connected. I think the future these green energy will replace the  traditional electronics like laptop battery, cell and so on.

Here are three I found most interesting:

This seems to raise more traps photons and the efficiency of the laptop battery cell. An innovation that contribute to the fact that solar power could be competitive with fossil fuels.

The third innovation is an eco-concrete. At a time when cement production accounts for 5% of global carbon emissions, Nikolaos Vlasopoulos Novac has a cement that actually developed a carbon “sink” that absorbs and stores carbon for Sony PCGA-BP2EA. Solar Power in Ontario Could
